River Severn in Gloucestershire


River levels remain high at the Tewkesbury, Upper Pound river gauge because of recent rainfall. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is expected to continue. We expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads adjacent the River Severn from Tewkesbury to Gloucester. Locations that may be affected include Apperley and Maisemore. Severn Ham, Tewkesbury starts to fill. Predicted peak:- Tewkesbury Upper Pound 4.1m to 4.2m and Mythe 4.1m to 4.2m Wednesday evening, 11/12/2024. No significant rainfall is forecast. We expect river levels to remain high over the next few days. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. This message will be updated by 11am on Thursday, 12/12/2024, or as the situation changes.
