Flood Alert

River Avon in Worcestershire

River levels remain high but are beginning to fall very slowly at the Bredon river gauge because of recent heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is expected to continue. We expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads adjacent the River Avon from Abbotts Salford to Tewkesbury. Other locations that may be affected include Offenham, Evesham, Twyning and the Eckington Road. Observed peaks:- Evesham: 2.22m on Sunday 08/12/2024. Bredon: 2.69m on Tuesday 10/12/24. No further significant rainfall is forecast. We expect river levels to remain high over the next few days. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are liaising with emergency services and Local Authorities. Please avoid low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded, and avoid contact with flood water. This message will be updated by 6pm on Thursday, 12/12/2024, or as the situation changes.
