Flood Alert

Severn Vyrnwy confluence

River levels remain high but are beginning to fall at the Cae Howel river gauge as a result of Storm Darragh. Consequently, the risk of flooding is reducing. We expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads adjacent to the river from the Welsh border at Llawnt to Shrawardine near Shrewsbury. Other locations that may be affected include Llanymynech, Maesbrook and Melverley. Observed peak:- Llanymynech at 4.77m Saturday evening, 07/12/2024. No further significant rainfall is forecast. River levels are falling, but may still pose a flood risk. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences and liaising with emergency services and Local Authorities. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses. This message will be updated by 18:00 on Thursday the 12/12/24, or if the situation changes.
