Rivers Brathay, Rothay and Winster


River and Lake levels remain high due to recent rainfall. Scattered showers, some of which may be heavy, are expected throughout today and tonight, Saturday 6th December. Locations most affected will be low lying land and roads near rivers Brathay, Rothay, Winster and other watercourses from Grasmere to Grange-over-Sands including low lying areas around Ambleside, Skelwith Bridge, Windermere, Hawkshead, Newby Bridge, Backbarrow, Cark and Cartmel. We continue to monitor the situation. Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. This message will be updated by 10AM on Sunday 7th December 2025 or as the situation changes.
