Rivers Brathay, Rothay and Winster

River and lake levels remain high but are falling slowly, following recent rainfall. Further light showery rainfall is expected through the weekend. Locations most affected will be low lying land and roads near the rivers Brathay, Rothay, Winster and other watercourses from Grasmere to Grange-over-Sands including low lying areas around Ambleside, Skelwith Bridge, Windermere, Hawkshead, Newby Bridge, Backbarrow, Cark and Cartmel. We are closely monitoring the situation. Avoid using low lying footpaths, bridges near local watercourses and do not drive through flood water.
